The Bouquet Sessions • Saturday, May 2nd • 5 sessions
For the moms who want motherhood honestly captured
A candid Mother's Day portrait experience for moms and their little ones
When you arrive at the studio, there's a flower bar waiting. Your kids pick their favorite stems and you build a small bouquet together.
What I photograph isn't the finished bouquet; it’s the quiet moments that speak to something larger: the moment your little one hands you a spray rose because they’ve decided it's the best one. The way your kid leans into you when they think no one's watching. The version of your family that exists in the in-between moments, not the ones you perform for a lens.
No “say cheese.” No stiff smiles. No one expecting your kids to be still. Just thirty minutes of being present with your little ones in a room where someone is paying close attention.
The bouquet goes home with you. The images follow by May 9th—the day before Mother’s Day.

What happens, start to finish
No two sessions look exactly the same, and that's the point. Here's a general sense of how the time flows, so you know what to expect when you arrive.
-
Come in, say hi, take a breath. There's no rush. The space is set up and ready. Take a moment to get comfortable, or go ahead and dive right in. Whatever suits you and your little ones.
-
Your little ones choose their stems. You build the bouquet together. This is where the session really starts. The camera is already going, but there's nothing to perform. Just pick flowers.
-
Once everyone's warmed up, I'll give you small prompts and activities to move through—nothing posed, nothing forced. This is where the best images tend to happen.
-
We'll slow things down, catch a few quieter moments, and wrap up at a relaxed pace. Your bouquet is wrapped and ready to take home.
-
Head out with your bouquet. Your gallery will be delivered by end of day Saturday, May 9—just in time for Mother’s Day.
Where we’ll shoot
We'll shoot in a studio space inside the Essex Arts Center in Buffalo's Five Points neighborhood. It’s a modern, light-filled space that feels inviting and intimate. Afternoons here are beautiful, and there's plenty of room for kids who need to move.
Free parking is available right on site; no hunting for parking before your session.
About the photographer
Hi, I’m Kate and I’m glad you’re here.
I'm a Buffalo-based documentary and lifestyle photographer with a decade of work behind the lens and a 15-month-old at home who's already keeping me on my toes.
I created The Bouquet Sessions because it's the kind of experience I'd want for myself: a low-pressure, genuinely fun thirty minutes where my little one is engaged, I'm actually in the photos, and someone who knows where to look is paying attention to the in-between moments.
I bring a calm presence to every session. Not to manufacture anything, just to be ready when the real moments arrive. I’d love to share that experience with you.
Everything else you’re wondering about
Here are the answers to what most people ask before booking. If something's still on your mind, just reach out.
-
The flower bar activity works especially well with toddler-aged little ones and older, but I've photographed newborns through teenagers. The activity adapts to whoever's in the room.
-
Whatever you feel like yourself in. Solid colors and natural tones tend to work well in the space, but the honest answer is: wear what's comfortable. I'll send a short style guide when you book.
-
That's actually fine. Kids who aren't trying to perform are easier to photograph honestly. The flower bar gives them something real to do; that's the whole point of it. I work with their energy, not against it.
-
You’ll receive your final gallery by the end of the day Saturday, May 9th—just before Mother’s Day.
-
The full session fee is due at booking and is non-refundable. That said, if something comes up and you cancel at least 48 hours in advance, your payment can be applied toward a different session type. Life happens. Just reach out and we'll figure it out together.
